'That is the correct way. We need a scout stated Tristan coldly. 'The feline is the quickest on her feet of us all. Let it be her.'

"Yes! Tristan is right. Ma'kirr, would you kindly go be our scout? You are basically Tailor-made for it."

Aden looks at Tristan and has another thought. I'm going to have to get over the fact that that thing is still Tristan...but he's not. Oh, this is going to be a LOOOOOOOONNNNNGGGGG Process...Focus Aden focus.

"You boys can't do anything without me can you" Ma'kirr teased. Quickly she set out to survey the area with keen eyes and silent footsteps.

Just as Ma'kirr left the team she felt another presence besids her. Ryltar matched her stealth with ease coming from practice, and apparently his senses were in prime shape today as he started to point out things she missed silently.

With the two scounts sent off, the three of you were left to enjoy the charms and comforts of the swamp in all its glory, in peace.

Things like the stench, and the constant sound of bugs and swamplife, and mosquitoes (though they avoided Tristan for some reason, and had trouble finding someplace exposed enough on Saliak), the occasional snake slithering by or toad hopping on through. At least you didn't hear any sounds of battle or alarm that'd indicate they'd been detected.

Still, it was almost an hour until the scouts returned...

Suddenly as he disappeared the drow returns, sporting a smug smile.

- "Gentelmen, our small scouting party consisting of myself and our beloved cat lady who should join us in a moment once she's done sulking reports the following: To the southeast we have the city walls - there is a catacombs entry there, but it's a bit too close to comfort of the city itself so we decided not to risk our precious skins doing detailed scouting of that area. To southweast we have more swamp - some small islands of ground, some relatively shallow water, catacomb entry, pair of guards and nasty looking birds - I wouldn't recommend that entry either: while you probably shouldn't sink due to all that fancy armor you wear the terrain looks like it won't be doing us any favors in fight. Our best bet would be to the east - they had a graveyard there it seems. Part of it sunk, rest is infested by zombies who ate the guards. I counted at least ten of them, there might be more, but I still think it'll be easier to get through there."

'I was expecting that all the dead here are resting peacefully' growled Tristan. 'It would appear that this priests are not as successful as we were led to believe.

With a sound of grinding steel, he stretched his arms. You could see faint, blueish light emanating from the cracks on his armour.

'Fine. Let it be walking dead. I would rather end them, than some innocent souls.'

"...Well. Let us wait a bit for Ma'kirr, and then head east. We don't have anybody who uses anything holy, huh? Great..."

Aden hung his head. It was going to be a long mission...

Having spent most of the discussion pouting off to the side  Ma'kirr finally righted herself.
"All right, let's go... No need to linger around here."
Quickly she strode off ahead of the group.

"Well then! Let us be on our way. Follow the cat!"

Aden walked off.

The trip down from the portal hill and into the swamps wasn't difficult, and the walk through the swamp was bothersome, but not life-threatening. Your splashing around in the water, however, must've tipped the zombies off. By the time you could see them through the fog, several of them were already shambling towards you, though at least you had the fortune of the swamp miring some of them down and slowing their advance. Not all of them had risen to attack yet, but you could feel about ten eyes staring at you very intently.

Then a pair of zombies lurched out of the fog well into sight range, having apparently found a dry path. One swung its hand like a flail at Aden, hitting his side. Another tried to attack Ma'kirr, but was unable to land a blow.

The zombies began raising a low, steady moan...

"Let us be through with these as quickly as possible. No doubt the sound will alert someone inside." I would have prefered subtlety. Some things cannot be avoided. As Saliak steps forward, runes flare along the haft of his mace. Anyone looking at his face would see a tiny half smile. Perhaps he is glad to be back to battle?

The zombie was an easy target, and it crumpled into a heap from Saliak's blow. It still left quite a few of its companions to deal with, however...

Another group of the creatures lurched towards you, and while one was mired down by the swamp, two got within reach of Tristan, flailing away at him. One even managed to land a blow. And as if that wasn't bad enough, the soil covering some of the gravesites appeared to be stirring...

Ma'kirr dodged the Rotter's swipe, as much as you can call swaying in a light breeze a dodge. Quickly she brought the half of her spear around in a violent spinning motion, smashing the zombie in the side of the head. Not waiting to see if the creature fell she slipped back between her comrades to assist Tristan.
