Hackmaster 4e IC - Quest for the Unknown

<< < (24/28) > >>

Malek Deneith:
Between Maoun's second fireball and Sho Lee's attack the Elk starts noticing the punishment a bit... not much, but just enough so that it misses with another attack aimed at Jace. On the other hand so does Samuel, who's fancy shooting attempt ends up sending the quarrel into the rock above dungeon entrance, from which it bounces falling harmlessly to the ground... just as a dozen of orcs emerges groggily from the corridor and starts to measure the situation.

...but now there's a dozen of orcs to worry about too.

S.K. Ren:
Unleashing a burst of fire at the Elk, Maoun turns to face the disturbance. The appearance of the Orcs is rather disconcerting. Are these guards or squatters? He quickly flies up to get a better view of the battle and out of the range of the Elk.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)So Burning Hands at the Elk, avoiding my allies. I'll fire it vertically if I have to.
Burning Hands damage (1d3+5=7)

And its 5 segments before I can do anything else right? So after 1+5 segments Ill fly to about 9-10 ft off the ground (Whatever height it would appear is 4' above the Orcs' heads.)

Sam fires off a bolt at the orcs before putting his crossbow away and drawing his dagger.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)Attack roll: 16
Damage roll: 3
Argh why can't I get another good roll?
If you really need it I can roll a d4 again for putting my crossbow away, but I'm pretty sure I have enough time to get the dagger out this round regardless.

Malek Deneith:
As Sho Lee and Maoun finished off the Elk, orcs charged at the party.

Sho Lee found himself in dire straits - not only he got attacked by three of the goblinoids, but one of the archers decided to help them out, and sent two arrows at the monk - thankfully one of them struck one of the orcs instead of intended target (curiously bouncing off the armor orc was wearing instead of piercing it), but the other was still heading for him.

Not far away Michael was facing two orcs of his own - one of them took a swing at him, which the warrior took on his shield. The shield cracked a bit as it was hit by an oddly familiar longsword.

Samuel managed to fire off one bolt into the charging mass, and drew his dagger just as two orcs neared him.

Jace was out of luck. He did manage to let loose his spell just as orc warriors got into melee range, but it didn't help him any as seconds later one of the orcs slashed him through the torso, sending the already wounded priest to the ground, unconscious.

Maoun got the attention of two other archers. Thankfully for them the first pair of missiles didn't find their mark, and his ascension to higher position managed to throw the aim on second salvo off... barely.
