Chaosforge 4e PBF - IC

<< < (13/55) > >>

slave:
Berak, whose attention had been torn away from the action by the ship's figurehead and was probing it with a shard of his consciousness, trying to figure out whether it was sentient or was simply someone's mouthpiece, turned his attention quickly back to the battle when he noticed Isirius retreating from his confrontation with the zombie. Berak, wanting to get this battle over with, so that he could study the figurehead some more, attacked the zombie with a psychic assault as intense as he could muster.

Turning his attention back to the ship for a moment, he experimentally reached out to the figurehead using his telepathy, trying to say "Cease this assault and we will find you the ice scepter.".

--- Quote ---Minor action: Conjure Shaped Consciousness at S15
Mind Thrust with Augment 2 at Q22:
Berak uses Guidance of the Past to roll twice for attack and choose either result:
2#1d20+8=20,28               Berak chooses the second result (critical hit)
   Damage: 1d8+29=30 (psychic damage)
On hit: -4 to all defences until EoNT
Move to O22
Move Shaped Consciousness to S13

--- End quote ---

Malek Deneith:
Berak's attack sent the undead creature reeling, but not quite dead. As fragment of his consciousness approached the ship the dragon figurehead raised yet again and looked at it:
- Do you carry the ice scepter of the Winter King?
Berak tried establishing a telepathic link but while he did sense some sort of consciousness in the figurehead it felt... limited. At any case it didn't seem to receive or at least acknowledge his message and after few moments of prolonged silence spoke yet again:
- Only those carrying the scepter may board.
Seconds later a bolt of lightning erupted from figurehead's mouth and barely missed the consciousness fragment.

Meanwhile one of remaining skeletons ends it's existence at hands of Quill after exposing itself by trying to attack Gosok.

Encounter 1: Sky Raiders - Initiative, Movement and General Commentary

- Flesh-Crazed Zombie 2 is no longer dazed. Isirius is no longer insubstantial and phasing. Isirius no longer has concealment.
- Shaped Consciousness appears in square S15.

- Skeleton 3 kills last remaining town guard.

Map Notes
- River is probably quite cold
- Ice is difficult terrain. It also looks tad slippery and thin.
- Campfires are burning bright.
- Boats are difficult terrain and provide cover.
- Tents provide cover but aren't much durable.
- Totem poles could be climbed if you wish to do so.

Important Notes
Yeah that insubstantial and phasing really *did* come on only to disappear right away. Having "until EoNT" effects happen off-turn kind of sucks that way.

Xander Morhaime:
Quill leapt away from the zombie to focus her attention on the skeleton that had just killed the guard, swinging her flail low with the intention to bust some bony kneecaps.

--- Quote ---Move: Shift to L19
Standard: Steel Serpent Strike on L20, mark target; if hit, target is slowed and cannot shift until EoNT

Two damage dice and still my weakest attack thus far, damnit.

S.K. Ren:
A strong gale builds, lifting Gosok into the air. Without hesitation he follows Quill, swooping to flank the skeleton. This must end quickly. Striking fiercely, Gosok drives the skeleton back towards Quill before closing the gap. Taking this moment he ponders the meaning of this so called ice scepter.

--- Quote ---Standard Action: Wind Fury Assault; Fly to L21, provoking skeleton if able.
Wind Fury Assault vs Skeleton (L20) : 1d20+12 19 vs AC; 1d8r1+5 10:  Lightning Damage
Move Action: Shift to L20
Religion Check: 1d20+7 16

Malek Deneith:
Yet another skeleton falls to combination of Quill's flail, Gosok's distraction and yet more of Quill's flail. The amount of burning bones around makes the spot decently warm for a moment... if poorly smelling. Two remaining zombies attacked yet again, one wildly charging at the cleric and clubbing him over the head, the other coming next to nearby psion and tasting a bit of his crystal body

The ice scepter has no religious significance whatsoever. In fact you're almost certain you never heard of it at all.
