 253 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
 217 of those were killed.
 2 of those were killed by something unknown.
 5 didn't read the thermonuclear bomb manual.
 And 8 couldn't handle the stress and committed a stupid suicide.

 3 sacrificed itself for the good of mankind.
 11 killed the bitch and survived.
 7 showed that it can outsmart Hell itself.

Scout with Int-Int is a good start for Angel of Max Carnage anyway. Hell Arena Key (damageless Arena) is ordinary thing on such run.
Chained Court sometimes deadly - but sometimes not. Here the last case. Juggler helps a lot.
I have a phase device on Phobos Anomaly but it phase me only 2 tiles away. Get a lot of damage (about 40-46) escaping lost souls and cacodemons, so no damageless Anomaly.
Just before Deimos Lab get level-up and WK2. A-modded tactical boots one of best boots and easily available.
Deimos Lab was dangerous, but with Int2 you can see position of spiders before opening walls. So main problem is shamblers. Hopefully on this run they phase aimlessly enough and do not harm me.
Just before Containment Area I found Trigun. but no Invulnerability globes, so ...
Containment Area on AoMC was easy. Shotgun+cornershooting+max damage
past City of Sculls I get an InvulGlobe. Time for nuke'em'all! But no homing phase!
so nuke chain was not long enough.
No Invulnerability on Babel. Got a rocket to my Red Armor, so no damageless Babel.
No. I don't go UC past angel arm. No-no!
Vaults was a totally useless. Gothic Boots and assault shotgun.
Limbo! I get Invulnerability just before but do not nuke Limbo. I want that nuclear BFG! and P-mod too.
Mt. Erebus. +3 levers

And... 3! 3 InvulGlobes on one level just before Dis. 2 of them in just 2-3 tiles from stairs. Trigun and ... Boom! Boom! Boom!
Scout with only 10 hp finaly win :)

Post Mortem / [M|AoMr|YAVP x3] All kinds of Marksman

For a long time playing .996, I never win as Marksman. Damn, how? How the man with only pistols can kill those mancubi - arch-viles - and so on?
.997 make things easy. Of course, I gain experience and understand gun kata - but .997 more favor to Marksman anyway.

I finish that as 1st challenge as early as possible. Nice. But what about technician and marine? Some times I tried that but not succeded... About 50-70 dead soldiers in mortems. Well - each death give some player experience and now:

For players who maybe start play and can't complete AoMr - can say the next (only for beginners! from one medium skilled):
  • do not enter all special levels. Arena is a good place only for Dualgunners and quick - that is for Scout. May be... sometime later... geting a Tormuse-like skills :) The same about Mortuary/Limbo. If you are not going Mortuary - you do not need CoS or Abyssal Plains. Firing to lost souls from pistols when surrounded is a best and quick way to die. Do not need melee weapons - do not enter UC. Leave Arena or CC - do not enter Vaults.
  • ammo. About 5 packs in inventory must be enough (500 10mm bullets).
  • medpacks. Only large and not more than 5. Actually about 3 are quite enough.
  • armor. I like armor! I re-equip that if have a chance - choose more suitable. One for plasma, one for fire and one for bullets. The same about boots. One tactical or any +speed, one for lava if lucky.
  • weapons. Standart pistols, modded to speedloaders are our best friends. Combat or GCB quite rare. Usually on HNTR we do not get level more than 10 - so no Wizkid. Assemble speedloaders as early as possible.
  • traits. Go to master trait ASAP. Well sometimes masterless build good. But not for nubie Marksman.

what pistol assembly best for Technician? If you plan storm the Wall and than die - energy pistol only way for that. If you want victory - stormbolter is a best thing you can do. Full compensation for blocked DG and good damage (MSs always do a max damage!)
BulletDance Marine really ammo-eating machine. 1 shot = 4 bullets. 3 shots, reload. If you choose TH2, 2 shots and reload. The game become "find a cover, reload and fire from corner". Usually you need about 100-150 ammo for clear 1 level.
About CatEye - good if you plan AoMr+Ao100 dual angel challenge. But for HNTR-HMP we do not gain enough experience for that. Nubie Marksman Scouts must have GunKata +Int2.

Acid flood, lava flood, targeting...

why not add one more special event like a AoD? not for whole game, but at random level. Everything becomes dark, your vision fades for -1 tile (and restores again on exit to next level), enemies ressurects and you get 2X experience per kill

I hope all know about custom challenges and loading from mod server? Well, they are good for understanding how write own modules (thank for source code) but what about win them?
well, I have some ways for Gold (complete on UV) but it tricky and with RNG favor.

Main problem: Lack of ammo. 50 shells for arena not enough even on HMP - no "radar shooting", no even shoots from long distance - seek for enemies, wait for short distance and shoot when close. Past 2nd wave I have about 7 or 8 shells and empty chaingun. On UV I have no ammo (no one shell!) and need run to shells that appears past 2nd wave.
Anybody get Platinum? How? They ressurects, no ammo, no melee weapon - it impossible o_O

Requests For Features / Permanent achievements mode

The idea is :
Add a new game mode. Some of medals and badges add permanent effect for every new game you start.
It not count as a challenge or "standart" game for another unopened medals or badges but a different game mode just for fun and relaxing. But assemblies opened here adds to list, monster kills, rare and unique items found counts at player stats and you can achieve any of medals that you already have.
So, the achievements not only "words", but give us some new abilities, and we can hunt for those Platinum and Diamond badges not only for "Hey, I'm cool!" but for himself and that relax mode.

Fallout Platinum Cross give you a free nuke in inventory on each start. ..."You are so mad that steal one when go Phobos"
(Grammaton Cleric Cross) AND (Armorer Gold Badge) grants you combat pistol at start instead of ordinary.
Gambler's Shield grants ability know lever danger state (as first Intuition trait)
(UAC Diamond Badge) AND (Compet-n Platinum Cross) give you additional +10% speed for all actions (like Scout bonus, but Scouts get actually 20%!)
(Longinus Diamond Badge) OR (Strongman Diamond Badge) give you +3 melee damage (as Brute trait) for free - you are trained in martial arts, man!
Technician Diamond Badge give you any of mod-packs (1 of each type including nano-onyx-sniper..) at start.
Iron Skull grants +1 armor for free - your skin hardens!
(Demonic Diamond Badge) OR (Destroyer Diamond Badge) give you additional intrinsic +10% dodge chance
Hunter Diamond Badge give +1 sight range - wandering in darkness train your vision
and so on. If you have all medals/badges... you become unstoppable :)

It must be separate game mode, not combined with Angels. You can start new game - and play with classic rules. Or can start this mode - and just relax if you have a lot of achievements... Or train your baby :D
The fact is I can try create custom mod for it... but custom game achievements not count at stats, and still no stimulus for getting badges (other then for sign "26/26/26/26" ;))

I'm add a 10 or 12 dead marines to my mortems trying complete AoB at HMP. Well, it was easy in 0.9.9.6 but now... Well, I think "I need more experience! More kills, more mod packs!" and start UV game.

Hardest part was Hell Arena (near to death) and Military base (damn, who give a napalm launchers to elite commandos???). I lure Master to door at Chained Court and rip him - tricky but real.
At Deimos Lab most dangerous was not a shamblers but revenants. Shamblers die quick and I got onyx+nano

Before Babel I found power mods for cybernano armor, and life become much more easy.
Mortuary was not "hard" but boring. Most dangerous monsters not a mancubi but commandos with their deadly plasmaguns. Mancubi actually our friends - they gib corpses! But I used about 8 large medikits and 4 Supercharge globes here...
Having Enviroboots and cerberus boots Mt.Erebus was not so hard.

Some meson fluctuations maybe... or just too hot for anything? (+34 C)
8 dies in a row - I try to beat AoB on HMP...
(get a shot from sergeant at Phobos Lab - past envirosuit deactivating use a phase device... and appear in the middle of demons and formers)

Last time examine one thing as a chain of special levels. I want get the next:

all my attempts use a level.OnExit fails. OnExit - when player leave current level. No "OnExitCheck" hook here.
Well, as a result, I create global variable for deep-meter, and use the same special level. Like next:

another variant is using something like portal at Phobos Anomaly, but I do not want that (no save possibility). So, I can do a chain of some perpendicular special levels... Unfortunately all have common kills count and the same history string. And result at history:

1. How I can change level "entry" history string? Not once, but dinamically?

first: from what source the constants like SPRITE_CYBERDEMON are taken? And how use a custom sprites for items-player-enemies? Format of picture, how to implement that for custom item or being?

second: is anywhere exist good guide on logging? How add a special strings at mortem, how handle special levels stats, and so on. Or I must remember that in some kind of array and print OnMortem manually?

Tourist:
Well, from one side that is a sample how to create items. I create:

- pistol, auto-rechargable, alt-fire, alt-reload
- knife, alt-fire
- super-medpack.
- armor and boots.

From other side it is a sample how reuse any of special levels that exist in game. All names are present in code.

And for non-modders that is a good training area, where you can visit ANY special level at any difficulty. Faster gain experience, and find a lot of uniques. Of course you have at start "cheaters" equipment - but why not unequip that? Well. Anyway it is a debug-mode episode.

Pistol alt-reload teleports you to stairs, if you want. May be in future I write "massacre" for knife alt-fire ...

last changes:
- make a proper color for armor. No, it is not intended black - I want a cybernetic armor with white glow. Now it looks properly.
- added Map Scanner - thank to shark20061
- added missed Deimos Lab. Now ALL special levels here.
- added big ammo and ammopacks. Can be bugged, not tested.
- knife converted to blade, with Dragonslayer sprite and Whirlwind alt-fire.
- added proper level names (i.e. Phobos-Deimos-Hell)

finally,
- added MASSACRE for blade alt-attack. Kill all living (and non-living) beings on level. Except you.

Infinity
A long-long way. Until level number not reached max_integer or something like that. So, if you want, you can descend to level 2 000 000 000. Or at least to 32000.
Make that past discussion about Infinity Dungeon at ADoM...

So, I actually was killed by mancubus. But armed nuke event and... I nuked himself??? Well, death is death anyway, but I have still about 6 minutes for escaping... if I was live %)

Starting as a scout with Int2 I easily get Arena damageless. On Hell 7 I have a 374 total damage gained, the first time have a chance for Untouchable badge. Mastermind was nuked (I got Invul just before descending to Dis), I run to JC and fire nuclear BFG... I have a lava element and think "test this gun then overcharge and use lava element and..." Nuclear overcharge need fully loaded weapon :( don't know it. So, I kill JC in ordinary, not so devastating way. And looks as HNTR not a challenge for me any more - I win 3 medium difficulty Angel game in a row (well, Marksman was only partial win but so close to full...)
