Hey, I don't visit the forge forums as often on steam, but I just wanted to inform you that I did manage to reproduce this state on my home PC (with a 1080 Ti) - unfortunately it happens so only in debug when running from visual studio - but chances are I can figure it out for the next version.

There's a huge difference between

a) to savescum you need to prepare by saving the game, copying the save somewhere else, then to restore it you need to copy it back

-and-

b) anytime you wish to return to your old save, even if on a whim just force kill the game

The first one requires you to actively cheat, the second one is a very easy temptation to give into.

That said, when replays are in, I'll add a "safe mode" option, that will constantly save the current replay. This will cost a bit CPU and disk usage, but will basically restore your progress no matter what (including power outages, driver crashes, system crashes, etc). No ETA on it yet, but hopefully this year.

> There's no crash_report_xxx.txt from these.

That means that the driver crashed and didn't even return control to the game :/. Try updating your drivers. If that doesn't help, the least I would need is crash info from the driver, otherwise I'm working with a crash report no more detailed than "game crashes, fix it" :(

This is extremely frustrating, but also probably hard to pin down.

I got a new machine at about the same time version 1.2 was released. Since then, I fairly regularly get crashes either when leaving the special level of Io, or Io's last level Gateway. Often these lock up my machine with the disk activity light lit up solidly. (Of course I also lose my save...)

IIRC this has only occurred when I've played the game straight without stopping. If I save & exit when I first get to Io, the game never crashes. But I don't always remember, especially when I'm in a game that I'm really focused on.

I've played a few games on v1.1 with this machine and none of those crashed, but I can't be certain that it's a problem new to 1.2 and not to this computer. I haven't had anything remotely similar with other games yet.

I've attached what I think are all the relevant files for the most recent crash. There's no crash_report_xxx.txt from these.

System is Arch Linux (EndeavourOS) stable, with NVIDIA drivers. I'm using the GOG version. Choice of GL or Vulcan doesn't seem to matter; running the Windows version in Wine is just as crash-prone.

Hmm...  I wonder if I could do something similar in JH.  Hmm...  :P

You know you wanna.

I'm hinting that I think it really isn't possible given the mechanics that KK has chosen to implement.  But I'm a middling player at best, so what do I know, amirite?  =P

Entrenchment becomes useless? Really?
The ammo efficiency of the scrapgun doesn't stack with entrenchment? That's weird!

Bulletstorm, not Entrenchment.  I've not played much of Technician builds...

I also had severe problems reloading my Scrapgun.  Like, a single use of the reload key did not fully reload the entire weapon.  I was on a tourist run, and didn't want to risk doing something that would make me be unable to see what was coming, but it was something that also bothered me.  Not sure if that was a bug or an intended mechanic.

So a while ago, (eight and a half years ago?  Whoa!)   :o  I managed to get a win that showed 0% kills, by killing nothing but the Cyberdemon and the Mastermind.  It was a fun little challenge to see how few kills I could get, but I always thought it could be interesting to try it in Angel of 100, so I could truly get 0% kills.  :)

Well...  I didn't quite do it this time, but I got it as low as 3% kills, so that's pretty good, I think.  :)  Bonus:  I made sure to unwield my starting weapon at the beginning, and never wielded a weapon, so I got Sunrise Iron Fist as well.  :D

All 60 of those enemies that got killed died in crossfire, since I never fired a single shot...  unless you count the time an arachnotron stepped into a doorway unexpectedly, and I accidentally walked into it and punched it.  (Don't worry;  it didn't die, and I apologized afterward)  :P
